With the Zionists in Gallipoli J H 18671947 Patterson 9781177104968 Books Reviews
A document of English politics how they use poor Jewish people for their imperialist dreams. Bad written book with no worth to read.
The world is commemorating in 2014 the centennial anniversary of World War I. Overlooked in most books on the 'Great War' is the contribution of the Jewish inhabitants of Zion (Palestine) to the victory of the Allies. This book is important in that it gives historical testimony to this poorly-known fact. For this alone, this book should be read by all students of WW I.
Great first hand story by the commander of the Zion Mule Corp of their service during the battle of Gallipoli during WOW. Doesn't tell of individual battles and fighting but still tells an interesting story of one of the most famous and bloody battles of WWI
History written by one who was there and knew how to write.
Patterson is always interesting and this book is no exception. Insights into the British art of war abound. The Zionists, for the most part, distinguish themselves and do honor to their cause.
An interesting book on a little-known force who were present during the Gallipoli Campaign, all of which is becoming increasingly pertinent as we come up to the 100th Anniversary of the Landing. I was familiar with the author Lt-Col Patterson from another of his books 'The Ma-eats of Tsavo' about the problems encountered with lions during the construction o the Uganda Railway (The Lunatic Line) in he late 1890s. Patterson has an easy style, very readable, although often borders on the jingoistic when referring t the Campaign, but in the end does see it as a disaster, but still feels the Allies will persevere in the end. Recommended for anyone studying the Gallipoli Campaign of 1915.
Patterson was a firsthand witness when the British decided to mount a naval expedition to bombard and take the Gallipoli Peninsula on the western shore of the Dardanelles, with Constantinople as its objective as commander of his Zionist Muleteers. An interesting read for all we history buffs.
